Hi,
My computer is running super slow, Norton keeps turning it self off and i am having problems shutting down and starting up. Most of the time it stalls and nothing further happens or it simply takes forever to carry out.
I have ran Spybot S&D, Avast & Norton and all come back clean, but all is not well.
Could someone please take a look at the hijack log. Anything amiss? i cannot see anything obvioius but then if i could i spse i would not be here, anyway if you can - Many Thanks

Your HijackThis Log shows nothing abnormal, that doesn?t always mean you are clean, so:
Let?s do a generic clean and see if that will take care of the problem?.
Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune & save it to your desktop. DO NOT use yet.
Please download and install SUPERAntiSpyware Free
? Double-click SUPERAntiSypware.exe and use the default settings for installation.
? An icon will be created on your desktop. Double-click that icon to launch the program.
? If asked to update the program definitions, click "Yes". If not, update the definitions before scanning by selecting "Check for Updates". (If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and unzip into the program's folder.)
? Under the "Configuration and Preferences", click the Preferences... button.
? Click the "General and Startup" tab, and under Start-up Options, make sure "Start SUPERAntiSpyware when Windows starts" box is unchecked.
? Click the "Scanning Control" tab, and under Scanner Options, make sure the following are checked (leave all others unchecked):
o Close browsers before scanning.
o Scan for tracking cookies.
o Terminate memory threats before quarantining.
? Click the "Close" button to leave the control center screen and exit the program.
? Do not run a scan just yet.
Reboot your computer in "Safe Mode" using the F8 method. To do this, restart your computer and after hearing your computer beep once during startup (but before the Windows icon appears) press the F8 key repeatedly. A menu will appear with several options. Use the arrow keys to navigate and select the option to run Windows in "Safe Mode".
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
? Under Main "Select Files to Delete" choose: Select All.
? Click the Empty Selected button.
? If you use Firefox browser click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
? Click the Empty Selected button.
If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

? Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
Scan with SUPERAntiSpyware as follows:
? Launch the program and back on the main screen, under "Scan for Harmful Software" click Scan your computer.
? On the left, make sure you check C:\Fixed Drive.
? On the right, under "Complete Scan", choose Perform Complete Scan and click "Next".
? After the scan is complete, a Scan Summary box will appear with potentially harmful items that were detected. Click "OK".
? Make sure everything has a checkmark next to it and click "Next".
? A notification will appear that "Quarantine and Removal is Complete". Click "OK" and then click the "Finish" button to return to the main menu.
? If asked if you want to reboot, click "Yes" and reboot normally.
? To retrieve the removal information after reboot, launch SUPERAntispyware again.
o Click Preferences, then click the Statistics/Logs tab.
o Under Scanner Logs, double-click SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log.
o If there are several logs, click the current dated log and press View log. A text file will open in your default text editor.
o Please copy and paste the Scan Log results in your next reply.
? Click Close to exit the program.
Reboot to Normal Mode
Defrag your Harddrive:
1.Open My Computer.
2.Right-click the local disk volume that you want to defragment, and then click Properties.
3.On the Tools tab, click Defragment Now.
4.Click Defragment.
Please reply with a SuperAntiSpyware Log and a fresh HijackThis Log.

Antivirus Turns off
No folder options
No taskmanager
No regedit
Microsoft Word dtarts funny closes unexpectedly.
If yes then, I can help you with that.
If no, I have no idea.
If maybe then check those symptoms
If you have no Idea, then Reformat it. "It's one of the best solutions"

With the exception of the anti virus - i have none of those symptoms. Thanks for the advice though.
I m going to run with 2oldgeeks advice and post back logs here.

Well, as I received your last post, I had to come to work and been here ever since. May have to put in about 40 hours in the next 3 days, so I?m gonna be a little infrequent on here?. Sorry.
Your SuperAntiSpyware and HiJackThis Logs are clean and show no signs of any Malware.
I suspect Norton/Symantec may be the culprit. Can you possibly un-install it and re-install? That may take care of it.
Were you able to defrag?
I personally don?t like anything from Norton/Symantec. But that?s up to the individual?
Try un-installing Norton and let me know the outcome???
