Nero Express OEM does not start.

Guys, new to the forum. I have a problem with my NERO Oem version. I use the Nero smart start wizard and choose any item like 'make data dvd' and Nero hangs from then on. It does not bring up Nero express to start the burn process anymore. what is strange is that the Nero smart start icon is seen in the system tray and under task manager it is also running the nero.exe process in the background but the program never comes up. I tried uninstalling Nero and tried a free other program and that seems to hang as well. I would like to reinstall Nero OEM for the burning but unsure of what may be going on with the background services. Please help!

Forgot to mention that this is the NERO 6 OEM ver.

uninstall useing the nero clean tool from there website
