I'd like to explain my situation. I have a phat psp with m33 3.71 that im sure runs all sorts of homebrew fine and dandy. Recently, I've been using it a lot for watching videos and music, and not much else. I still like the fact that i can play a game whenever I want, and I have some emulators on there. So while I was riding the bus watching a vid, I thought it would be nice to have the slimmer psp. I went on an impulsive buying spree and snatched a Slim on ebay (which hasn't arrived yet), but after reading around I'm a little concerned. Info on the psp using google search is like a jungle of old an new, so im not sure if I have the right ideas, but what do you slim owners think of the homebrew support at this point. I see that a lot of stuff being released nowadays is designed to be slim friendly, but I also see a lot of forum posts with dissapointed people who cant make it without 1.5 kernel.

Like I said, I do a lot of video watching, psp game iso playing, and some occasional emulation/homebrew, so I'd like your thoughts on whether or not I should keep my phat or keep the slim. Also, I know this isn't the hardware section, but any comments on the construction quality of the slim would be greatly appreciated. I'm very careful with my electronics, but Id like your thoughts. Thanks for reading.

everything you're doing on your fat, can be done on the slim. all converted videos will still play, most emulators will work, and music is still the same.

i have both the fat and slim, and i use the slim as my main. the fat stays at 3.52 m33-4, while the slim is 3.90 m33-3. my slim gets longer battery life, due to the official sony extended battery kit; a good solid two more hours. can be more if i turn down the speeds, brightness, and sound.

i've been using psptube and snes9xTYL 0.4.2. psptube still has bugs in it, but it's normal since it's not completed. snes9xTYL plays most of my roms with little lag.

Thanks a lot for the quick reply. I'll have to try out both and see what I like best. There's also some sentimental value to my phat psp, as I bought it for myself for my high school graduation back in 2005, but i dont know if it outweighs the sleekness of the slim. Thanks again.

you still need the fat psp, because you need to create pandora's battery and magic memory stick for the slim psp. much easier in your case since you have custom firmware already.

if you can, just keep both. you can switch between them. also, if one fully bricks, you can revive the other one with ease.

i was like you; i bought the original 3.60 slim a few days before they were released on a impulse buy. our fry's electronics had them in the cage, for sale.

yea Im going to use the old one to make the Pandora battery and stick, then my friend is buying it from me. I also have a couple friends with fat psps that will lend them to me if the slim needs to be saved. After the succesful installation of custom firmware, it should be fairly stable right? It wouldn't just randomly brick i would hope lol.
