ok I'm tempting fate just by posting this..this time no 'telling me off' ok? right...so there are these shiny boxes called amplifiers and players and they have this DTS 96/24 stamped on them so I guess this format really exists...but I was puzzled whe using a ripper type program that pulled out this audio track as when it identified it as dts 48/16 ie the standard format also upon playback (vlc with plugins i think) sometimes it was identified as 48/16 but the cyberlink would indentify it as 96khz 24 bit ..so which is it? I'm guessing that the ripper and player plugin thingy isnt aware of a nonstandard format..but the cyberlink one is, as PowerDVD when it plays the file identifies it as dts 96/24 , my only concern was that it was 48/16 and just being upsampled to make it seem more than it was, also why is the bitrate 1536kbps like its 'standard ' 48/16 one...I shall have a look at the dts website perhaps they might reveal all..or not as the case might be...
