I'm looking for a multi player adapter for a fat PS2 (model SCPH-1xxxx, the very first variant). I've read a few reviews and am getting even more confused. I gather that:
1) Sony made at least 2 different MultiTaps, one for the fat models (1xxxx, 3xxxx and 5xxxx), and another for the slim PSTwo models.
2) I read something about the older MultiTap for fat PS2 not being compatible with PS1 (PSX) games? And the MultiTap for slim PSTwo's works with PS1 games?
3) I saw a few used MultiTap's and 3rd-party multi-player adapters at a local shop. The 3rd-party adapter was labelled "GameStop" (probably an OEM) and had ports for 4 controllers but only 1 memory card. There was also a genuine Sony MultiTap that was pretty big (6 by 4 by 1 inches, I'd say), with ports for 4 controllers and 4 memory cards. Question is, do a lot of games use or require a separate memory card PER controller? Conversely, do games work if in the presence of 4 controllers it only finds one memory card, all on the 3rd party adapter?
4) I play Guitar Hero games with the guitar controller quite frequently. Is there a multi controller adapter (or Y adapter) that can let me plug both a regular (e.g. DualShock) controller and a guitar controller to one port, so that I don't have to keep swapping controllers when changing games?
