Hi Everyone.

My first post but i have been doing what i'm about to mention for YEARS ... some of the tools might have changed over time.
Anyways .. here's the issue .. and it is KILLING ME!!!

Got the PS3 .. putting some series into DivX for easy viewing.
Now i was doing my series od Seinfeld ... when i hit around season 8 .. i had to switch from DVD decrypter to DVD Fab (the free version was enough) as apparently after some forum trolling .. new copy protection. Well DVD fab worked.
But today .. i'm doing the final series ... (i wasn't doing them in order) and i am doing Season 7 .. this is the Australian R4 dvds. Quite simply ... usung DVD Fab or DVD decrypter and even trying AnyDVD as i saw in some other forums .... i can get the vobs onto my machine. But now the weird part.

I use my only DivX convertor .. DivX Author v1.5.2 to load the VOB and i only get 5 secs of BLACK footage.
Even weirder .. try to play the VOB using media player classic and it shows a time length of 0:00 and the review bar goes from start to finish in a second ... but be patient .. and the video will actually start playing ... so the video file IS there on my hardrive in the vob ....

So i can't work out where the issue lies ... is it not ripping correctly? (i've tried dvd sjrink direct to HDD with anydvd ... anydvd with dvd decryper .... dvd fab and dvd decrpyer stand alone.
Each time i load into divxauthor ... i get 5 seconds of footage and the same media player issue. Also .. i tried ripping on a vista laptop .... same result kinda ... files still show only 5 secs on divxauthor .. BUT media player classic DOES show the full length of the episode.
I .. AM .. STUMPED !!
I don't have anymore divx creators as i don't want to buy a program for the last 24 episodes ... seems odd since i did more recent seasons.

Any suggestions or extra information would be appreciated ...

sounds like they added bogus cells. Try FixVTS:

and then do Voblanker:
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_.../vobblanker.cfm

then do your thing..... should correct your problem. maybe FixVTS will do the job by itself!

Well i had a small play with these two tools but im afriad i need a little more guidance with these. Should i say do a full dvd rip and play with those files or should i work from the DVD..?

Interstingly ... when i use AnyDVD and dd decrpter on my vista laptop... media player classic will now play the VOB file like a normal video.. it shows the correct length of the video and progress correctly ... but stills shows 5 ses in the divxauthor.

Can you direct me a little more on how to use these tools and in what order?

with FixVTS just load the VOB file in the folder where you ripped them and then hit the FULL DVD button. It will clean up the files and make them more DVD compliant.

with Voblanker you browse to your folder where your VIDEO_TS.IFO file is and then set the destination folder and HIT the bottom button PROCESS! then go to the folder that you chose for your destination and go from there. Hopefully this will fix your problem. good luck.

Hi There

Well i gave fixVs a go. I clicked on just any VOB and cliked full DVD ... i clicked the vobs on a full dvd rip from dvd decrypter with anyDVD.

The process crated a new copy and i tried loading that into divxauthor and i still showed 5 seconds only...

I then tried the vob blanker and loaded the fixVS version of the output and set a new output (haha that's alot of HDD room dude) and clicked process and not touching any options .... it took some time and created a new new version of the disc... i watched the vobs in media player which would play like normal files .... but loading it into divx author ... STILL only shows 5 secs.... i tried another divx creator and it does exactly the same thing.... just incase the issue with with the divx creator.

Now im looking for new ideas.
