I was unsure where to post this...

Problems: I cannot boot my modded XBox, it goes to the first logo screen and then to the maintenance screen with error 05 in the top left and the light flashes red and then green(? I'm color blind) for a split second. I have tried this using the disc I had, burning others, and even trying a Slayers disc.

I did not mod my XBox myself, but simply bought it that way. If it helps, the XBox had updated itself or something for Live that left it unable to run w/o the disc(was given to me that way) I know PCs, but not XBoxs. I read a bit and figure maybe it could be the Eeprom? But I figured instead of wasting hours trying out solutions I would see if others have already dealt with this issue.

If I'm getting Error 05, it deals solely with the HD not being locked, right? So why is it NO disc will work? Even putting the bios or whatever on stealth mode doesn't seem to work either. I have an X-b.i.t chip and it was running evox. I haven't used it for a while and there is a possiblity the bios switch got switched, but I doubt it and I've tried all variations anyway.

I'm going to take it apart and take a look inside, but if anyone has any good suggestions for me, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks for the time.

Do you know if it's soft modded or hard modded?

a Hard mod will bypass all that and play directly from a hdd. What you could do is get another hard drive and get a mod chip and just play games from there with your dvd drive disconnected.

I play games on my modded xbox off a 500GB hdd with the dvd rom disconnected. There is no use for it since i transfer games via ftp from pc to xbox. i have the Latest Xecuter mod chip, which helps ofcourse.

Boot into the mod chip by pressing Eject and Power at the same time and check your mod chip name and version. After getting this info search the forums. Threads exist that will help you. Go to Eeprom management and lock or relock the drive that's if that option exists once you boot into to the mod chip.

I'm fairly sure it's hard-modded due to the fact that there's a modchip. Wouldn't make sense to bother with the softmod then.

As far as the booting into the chip goes, when I press the two together, I boot up getting the same error as normal with the tray opening up and that's it. And in the event the DIP or whatever got changed, I tried every combo again as before. I've researched the locking/unlocking HD.

The only thing that actually seems able for me to do is to do some sort of hotswapping(whatever that is XD) IE Hooking up the HD to my computer and reformatting it or trying to restore the OS/dashboard partition or just locking the HD should it give me that option XD

And if I do disconnect the DVD drive I get error 11 btw
