But in my computer when I right click> edit, the size of the movie I'm backing up is 7.14 gigs. Can someone tell me why I'm getting these screwed up readings? I'm backing up LOTR 2 towers extended version so I'm inclined to belive it's 7.14 but I can't figure it out.

Click on edit in DVD Shrink, select preferences, you should see the target DVD size. The target is your blank disc, A DVD-5.

I tried right clicking on Edit in Shrink, nothing happens.
I then clicked Start> Right click My Computer> but "edit" was not avalible.
Please be more specific, all we can go by is what you tell us. I have no idea what OS you are using, what version of Shrink you have, etc. I belive you have an AMD processor though. :D

7.14 GB sounds like a typical DVD-9, Shrink should handle it with no problems.

when you open shrink, automatic compression is set on, so it looks like the movie is dvd5.
