Whenever I try to use the "Dance View" mode in Dance Summit 2001: Bust a Move (a.k.a. Bust a Groove 3) (SLPM-62029, NTSC-J, blue-back PS2CD), the game locks up after I have selected my team/stage/sound, and stays on the Loading Screen.
This occurs on the original copy, as well as a successfully burnt backup copy.
I have tried rebuilding the CD image and backing the game up on a DVD-R (minus only), but to no avail as the rebuilt backup doesn't even run; it stalls on a black screen after showing the "PlayStation 2" boot logo.
I am using a slimline PS2, model SCPH-75001 (US v14?), with a recently professionally-installed ChipMod Pro v.1.93.
I have no other debilitating errors with the console involving the chip--I can play backups of other games (PS1, PS2CD, and PS2DVD) with very few problems, some of which I would mention at another time.
Any and all help is appreciated. Thank you for your time.

So how did you make a CD backup of the original, as I have heard it works fine.
Did you use Alcohol as that would probably be best to use.

I haven't used this particular tutorial for Alcohol, but I'll try it anyways.
I should retract that last statement, however. The "successfully burnt backup" wasn't so successful at all. It was the only one that booted. Not only did it have the same problem I mentioned, but the some of the in-game music on this disc tend to skip. (Considering that this is a music/rhythm-based game, that's a bad thing.) BTW, I used IMGBurn to make this copy.
So yeah, I'll try using this Alcohol method as far as making a backup goes. But I doubt that'll solve my original problem.
Update: I tried the Alcohol burning method. I don't know if I have a different version of Alcohol or what, but whenever I try to make the image, I cannot set the datatype to "PlayStation 2" without graying out the checkboxes for "fast skip error blocks" and "read sub-channel data", both of which were needed to be selectable and checked. Therefore, I ignored the datatype and left it on "Customizable".
This disc worked, and was able to boot on the console. So far, none of the music skipped, but as of this moment, I'm still checking if I could use it in lieu of my original.
However, I still encounter the game freeze when attempting to go into "View Mode".
I tried rebuilding it to DVD using the Johnny's Epitaph tutorial, and I ended up with yet another coaster that won't boot.
