i have a dell optiplex 755 with the following features
intel core 2 duo e6750 2.66GHz
gigabyte geforce 8500GT with 1GB of memory
2GB of RAM
i want to play the new games like crysis and assassins creed on decent frame rates
can i overclock my processor and what type of cooler should i get? if i get a 9800gtx will i be able to play these games on high resolutions and good frame rates? how much will this cost?
any help would be appreciated...

IICR del lock their mobos so no OCing via bios :(

getting to 3GHz would be ideal.

next that 8500GT is terrible.

firslty the new ATI/NVIDIA cards will be out soon (next week for nvidia) and last week of june for ATI. id recomend to wait for that.

next can you take a picture of your PSU, and show me it. i need the pic of the side with the sticker with all the numbers on it.

next when you open up the case, do you (when looking front on) open it on the right or left?

Dell PSUs are proprietary so if you have to upgrade the PSU to support the new card (you probably will, the next gen cards use a lot of power) you'll also need to change the motherboard, and possibly the case too.

IICR dell still use industy standard PSUs, its jsut they have built it themselves

Have you seen the ATX wiring on them though? It's often different to the standard connector and so will only fit on Dell motherboards.

how much money do you have?

you can save the proccessor and HDDs and optical drive. and RAM.

i have $1500 and im thinking of building a new computer with an intel core 2 quad 2.4GHz, 4GB of RAM and a 9800gtx... is $1500 enough and would this computer be able to play the latest games?

wait for the new gfx cards first. they'll be out by the 26th of june.

nvidia's be 17th and ati's by 26th.

then make ur desicion :)

Yes, agreed, if you're going all out on a new PC, then it's worth waiting. $1500 is plenty enough money to build a proper gaming PC from the ground up.
