I burned a custom guitar hero 2 disc following a youtube tutorial. I used a maxtor DVD at a 2X burn speed. I used a softmoding method, but was simply given a black screen. I originally thought it was the DVD but I read in another forum that this does not matter, so my next idea was to use a hard drive or mod chip. The only problem with this is I dont know anything about these, and I do believe mod chips are either illegal to sell or have (which i do not know). So I guess Im asking the best way to make my guitar hero work.

Go buy Swap Magic and use Sony DVDs. Or Verbatim.

No, gameshark doesn't work the same way. Gameshark is a cheat disc, Swap Magic is used to boot itself up then prompt you to insert the backup and launch it without the console knowing.
