Hello everybody,
I am new to PS burning and I have read all the relevant tutorials and posts about how to burn a PS1 backup. However, when I try to load them on my PS2, the game always hangs on the PS logo screen. I used Alcohol 120 and set the write speed to 4X (the lowest my burner, a Matshita UJDA775Y will burn), picking the .cue file (the file size is 521MB). I am using Memorex 52X cd-rs. Can anyone tell me what I might be doing wrong? Thank you for your advice!

Important!!!
What version is your ps2?
It's best to use verbatim cds.
There is a possibility that you have a bad image of the game so try playing it on your pc with an emulator to make sure it actually works.

It's a version 7 (fat PS2). I am sure the image works because I copied it straight from the original. I think the PS2 recognizes the CD because it gets to the PS logo, but then it just freezes there.

I am using a TDK 52CD-R.

These are my Alcohol 120% settings:
Burn Speed: 4X
Underbuffer: Checked
Rectify sub-channel Data: Un-Checked

The image size is around 300MB. Is this too small for a PS1 game? I am trying to burn Knockout Kings 2000.

As for my mod, I am using a Swap Magic Fliptop and doing the hotswap trick. I know this technique works, because I tried it with two original games and it loaded correctly. I'm thinking there's something wrong with my burner. Are some burners not capable of burning bootable PSX games? I have a Matsuhita UJDA755Y.

This is common.. swapmagic will only load ps2 games.

You need a ps1 bootdisk, like action replay or similar.

Yep he's right or similar would be like Breaker pro, gameshark 2 v2 psx disc or gameshark 4.1 or wast it 1.4?

my breaker pro wont load wild arms ive got....ive dwnloaded may diff copies and every single copy will freeze when the words leave and it starts moving from the house to zoom on him....every single copy and there different from each other...is it my breaker pro? i burn at 16x, the lowerst it burns, and i think im using maxell cds...is it my cds or my breaker pro??

Well as the game is actually loading I would say it's the disks. I had great results with gigatain in the low price disks.

What i found out is that some PlayStation 1 games have protection on them so it isn't possible to play them as a back up. They require a patch to be embedded in them and then burned to work, which i found out wild arms and wild arms 2 required one. This may be the problem with the game your trying to play. I hope this helps.
