I'd like to start off by saying that by no means am I good with computers... Anyways, I just bought this dvd burner and installed it into my computer (I have an old Asus A8V mobo). Anyways so far the drive seems to be able to burn media fine. But when it comes to reading dvd's, audio cd's, it just skips. It can read them it is just skipping so badly to the point where the dvd's are unwatchable and cd's skip rather bad. I have deleted my upper and lower filters already does anybody know what I can do? I'm pretty sure I have the latest firmware as well.
I found this on a website:
This is what mine displays (Out of date nero but oh well):

i cant remember when it started but i couldnt burn anything to dvd ,when i inserted a dvd-r blank it would show as cd-drive.ive had i working before and burnt dvd video files ,wii backups and dvd mp3 disks and data disks,
it suddenly stopped working ,in clonedvd2 when attempting to burn dvd it stayed at 0% and couldnt cancel untill i reset manually,in imgburn i get an error saying invalid field in CDB, or it would simply stay at 0% .
so i figured i would buy a new drive wich i did today only to install the drive to realise i have the same problems , its doing exactly the same , so after hours of googling and trying random fixs i decided to reformatt ,
ive now reformatted and installed all drivers (and sacrifised my valuble data that i should of backed up) only to find im £20 down and in the same situation as i was in yesterday , ive tried different media , please help

Your problem is not the same as the OP's. His burner burns just fine.
I've tried all types. Regular DVD's skip and studder. Burned audio disk skip and sound crappy. And DATA disk when I try to extract something it just says "cyclic redundancy check" or something like that.
