HELP! Confused about downloading Custom Firmware...

Ok I'm a big noob and I'm realllyyy confused about all this custom firmware downloading. So, my question is do I have to download custom firmware in order to play ISO games? How would I do that? I've googled it but i stll can't find anything...any help here?

1. U need at least 1.5 or custom firmware to play ISO games.

Yes the PSP version is your firmware number. You will need to use a Pandora battery and MMS to move to CFW. Use THIS guide, or THIS one if you have a friend with a PSP already on CFW.

Um for the pandora battery do I need to downgrade my psp to 1.5 first/install custom firmware before I install the pandora battery?? I've already installed the magic memory stick...
