Well, I have no warrenty, and it's a 5th Generation Ipod Video. I unfortunately spilt orange juice on it. And it was none responsive afterwards. Nothing. SO I read up on spills to try and get it to work, many recommended that I open it up, and dry it off. I didn't want to wait for it to dry off because orange juice is sticky, everything would be sticky. So I opened it up. Cleaned it and It worked! It turned on and everything. I closed it up and clicked the centre button to check if my music was intact and nothing happened. I tried turning the wheel still nothing. (Also the backlight isn't on, and doesn't turn on, but that's probably because the clickwheel is unresponsive...) I connected it to my computer, and my computer/itunes read it. I was confused, so I re-opened it thinking I connected it wrong. I check all the wires it was all correct. I now have it connected to my computer, without the front cover on. I tried pushing the actual black buttons (the ones underneath the clickwheel) but it still doesn't work. What should I do? =( I'm thinking that maybe that actual black buttons got ruined, if is there any way of fixing it without getting a new ipod or sending it to apple?
Sounds like something short circuited when that juice spilled. That could explain why the iPod still turns on, yet the touch wheel remains unresponsive.
