NDS Roms containing malware

I saw a post saying that some fake roms are going around can cause the DS to brick when run.

How would you be able to tell if the roms are going to damage anything or not?

Does a current antivirus stop this, or is there something else that needs to be done?

Im thinking about getting an R4 but if it could end up destroying my DS I might not get it.

Just buy from a legit source, the R4 won't brick your DS.. it's 100% safe.

If the rom says you have to run there firmware hack before you can run the nds file stay away check file sizes when downloading most nds files are 16 meg's up to 120 megs if the file is less then 16 megs example only 34kb then it is a piece of spyware.


Another way to tell download the nintendo ds emulator for your pc and try the rom on the emulator if the emulator crashes or gives you a bad response most likely spyware or malware.

Most of these nds files that are fakes and contain malware and spyware are coming from limewire and frostwire i even decided to check this my self and found most nds files there contained viruses or where garbage files.
