Hi, i use dr divx 2 to rip my films to my hard drive, and when ripping films and most tv programmes it works perfectly.

i recently tried to rip a tv series, one which when played on my computer or dvd player (both have widescreen tv/monitor displays), directly from the disc, the episodes play in widescreen format using the whole screen.

however, when i rip them and then play them back on either the computer or dvd player, they play in 4:3 format, leaving black lines down the sides of the screen. the quality is perfect.

not sure why this happens,

any help would be appreciated,

Some tv-shows are in I believe it's called anamorphic so they are actually square but are stretched based on the format used in the dvd you may want to use DVDFab HD Decrypter http://www.dvdfab.com/free.htm you can rip the movies using this then burn them to disc using dvd shrink and dvd decrypter or if you just want to convert the files to divx after ripping them to hard drive us autogk http://www.autogk.me.uk/ takes awhile to convert to divx or xvid but never have had a problem it's preconfigured for optimal performance.
