Well i like a classic shooter as well as the next person but recently i purchased a copy of hexen 1 and 2 from ebay and i ran into a problem hexen 2 has a mac os x patch hexen 1 doesn't but has something better and in 3d.

SO HERE IT IS!!!

(How to get doom 1 2 ultimate hexen 1 heretic all to run under mac os x leopard no classic needed)

What you need.

1. a copy of doom 1 2 ultimate hexen heretic which ever you are going to run.

2. then go to this page:http://sourceforge.net/projects/deng And download doomsday engine for mac os x. (currently in beta very stable and easy to use)

How to install.

1. Insert your game cd for doom or which ever game you are using it doesn't matter.

2. Create a folder inside your applications folder call it doomsday engine now inside this folder create your game folders i.e /applications/doomsday engine/doom 1

3. Now copy these files from your cd's to you game folders

Copy list:

DOOM1:
Copy the music folder and the doom.wad off of the cd to your created folder inside the doomsday engine folder I.E /applications/doomsday engine/doom1/doom.wad
/applications/doomsday engine/doom1/music/

The same steps must be used when installing any version of doom and don't worry about the music folder if there isn't one don't worry just copy the wad into your game folder
folder.

Heretic:

The same as the doom instructions copy the heretic wad off your cd to your game folder and then copy then music folder into your game folder no need for the executable application file just the wad and music is needed.

Hexen: the same as the others just copy all the folders listed here into a game directory.

Once finished your directory fo your games should look like this.

/applications/Doomsday engine/doom1/music/
/applications/Doomsday engine/heretic/music/
/applications/doomsday engine/hexen/hexen music/

This what your wads should look like.

/applications/doomsday engine/doom1/doom.wad
/applications/doomsday engine/heretic/heretic.wad
/applications/doomsday engine/hexen/hexen.wad

once you have this finished mount the image for the doomsday engine and copy the application to /applications/doomsday engine/

now run the application apon start up the application will ask you to name the game you are trying to use with it doom or whatever. give it a name once finished it will ask you where the files are direct it to your doom or whatever folder you named it.

once finished you can select the game and hit play.

Now to run hexen: VERY IMPORTANT DO NOT SKIP READING THIS MAKE SURE UNDER THE SETTINGS INSIDE THE DOOMSDAY ENGINE THAT THE GAME SETTINGS ARE SET TO JHEXEN OR THEY WON'T LOAD HEXEN THIS IS ONLY FOR HEXEN.

Q and A:

Does doomsday engine support networked game play.

Answer: yes and eventually will support online play as well Which i am sorry to say that online play right now isn't supported but networked play is however.
