Motorola KRZR K1 - All Sound Randomly Stops Working

I bought a gold Motorola KRZR K1 from the Motorola United States website and after a few weeks or so all sound on the phone would randomly stop working. I would not be able to hear incoming calls, hear the alarm clock, the key pad tones or anything else for that matter.

It's true that if I reset the phone it would continue to work normally again, but after a while the sound would stop working again. This has been very problematic for me; missing important work calls, being late to work because I wouldn't be able to hear the alarm clock (Which I obviously bought a new real one because of this).

I was wondering if anyone else has the same problems as I do and if there is a quick fix to this. I was going to reflash and/or update the software on the phone from the Motorola web site, but they don't support AT&T on their drop-down list of service providers so I couldn't do that. I know I can send the phone in for service and all Motorola would do is reflash it anyway. But before I choose that option, I was hoping if anyone had some good answers for me.
