PS1 games stopped loading on modded slim PS2

Hi, I have a slim PS2 version 12 modded with v1.38 matrix infinity chip. It plays PS2 games perfectly and was playing PS1 games fine as well. But recently i tried to play my ps1 games (that were playing fully a few days ago)it auto loads but where the PS1 logo is supposed to come on there is just a blank screen, no sound no nothing and just stays that way. I tried to go to the browser first and then put the cd in and it does show up as a PS1 disc, but upon loading it does the same thing.

The interesting thing is, when the black screen is there, i can open the lid, and then when I close it again, the logo comes up in a few seconds and the game loads perfectly. Can someone please tell me whats going on and how i can fix this? Thanks a lot.
