I just purchased an LCD HDTV. I paid good money for it and I am pleased. However I wonder why my picture size keeps changing, I would be watching a full HDTV channel and a commercial would come in at half the screen, or sometime I have to strech a channel but it is broadcasting in a smaller screen size. It is very frustrating to me as I have to change the screen size on my PVR. I wonder are we going to experience this annoying problem much longer and is it going to change when all channels will be broadcasted in HD format. I would appreciate your comment.

you have to realise that not everything is recorded 16x9 (widescreen). Things are still being broadcasted 4x3. Animation for example, has for a long time being recorded 4x3, so unless it is "pillarboxed" you will have to set your tv 4x3. At the end of the day you are going to be watching the programme you tuned into in the correct ratio, so its not that bad really.....

Just quickly tho, have you taken your aspect ratio setting off your tv off "auto" or similar? leave it on 16x9 and you should be fine. then you can keep your widescreen setting on- even tho you may be actually watching the programme in the wrong ratio!! (spanish football i think transmits 4x3 (square image- all players look fat in widescreen 16x9.....)

one last thing, HD doesnt necceassrily mean 16x9.....(thats your widescreen setting)
