Nero Wont Burn Discs Anymore (help is appreciated)

well it started a couple days ago out of the blue. my burns in nero just started failing
i dont know what to do, help would be really appreciated at this moment b/c ive wasted many discs
ive defragmented but that doesnt help
ive also looked at other forums (and this one too)

it gives me the error "this hp firmware upgrade utility requires that your original cd-writer or dvd writer software be installed. Please reinstall cd or dvd writer software, and make sure HP RecordNow (or HP MyCD) has been successfully installed."
what do i do now?

alright i loaded up the new firmware
but the same error happens
the burn fails
