No sound from movies in new mp4 player

I'm new here I was recommended to this forum, thanks for having me :)

I have an issue with my new mp4 player and need help. I have lots of movies and short clips converted to mp4 that I was playing in my old mp4 player, but this new player I have will not play the audio. It plays mp3 music files fine but not the audio from mp4's. Any idea what I should do to get this working?
