I am having trouble networking a 2nd computer.
Here is what i have:-
I have 2 computers both running windows xp home and they are wired to a bt 2110 router. I am able to connect to the internet from both computers without any problem.
What i want to do is to be able to access my music and files etc, on the computer in my daughters room from the main computer downstairs.

I have checked and both computers are in the same workgroup ie MSHOME. I can locate the computers from either one in my network places but when i try to access the computer it says i do not have the relevant permissions.
I have searched the internet for the answers but so far i am struggling. Can anyone advise or should i just give up on the idea. Please treat me as a complete idiot.

Thanks for the reply - I am not using ics but have tried everything else. Since posting I have made some head way. Previously I was unable to access the windows firewall settings from one of the other computers - there was something missing in the registry.
I have now rectified this. I can now access both my lap top and other desktop from my main computer(I say main computer - there isnt really much difference performance wise between them)
However i still cant access my main computer from any of the others. I can use the printer though which is connected to my main computer. I can also ping the main computer from the others without any losses. But i still get the message you dont have the access rights when i try to connect.
I will keep trying but running out of ideas.

Managed to sort the problem out. Having spent at least 3 weeks trying to resolve this issue it took only 2 minutes to sort. I just needed to change one of the settings in the registry.
So, for the benefit of users who have the same problem have a look at the following link.

Many Thanks

Glad to hear you sorted your issue. XP home can be a pain to network over the professioal version. I have heard installing SP3 can help also.
