Need Help - LG External Super Multi DVD Rewriter Model: GSA-E501

I have had this external CD/DVD rewriter unit for a couple of months and it has worked fine. However, it now doesn't work - seems like it is not recognized by PC. It does get power (green light on) through the same USB cable that connects unit to PC. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
