Hey guys my ps2 orignal just stoped working and i'm to lazy to fix it :P i see a sale for the new ps2 slim for like 100 usd. so i have a couple of questions
1: are the newest ps2s able to play backups?
2: do i just have to take down 3 sensors and i can play?
3:Would i have to use cogswap and insted of swiping open it up?
1) Yes
2) Yes .... sometimes 2 sensors depends on the machine.
3) Yes and no. You can use either cogswap or swapmagic to play backups.
There is another way to play backups though, using ESR Beta 6. You load this on your memory card, along with Free MCBoot, then patch the backup DVDS and burn them. Then you don't have to do swaps at all!
I use both methods, but use the swap method only when the ESR doesn't work..... which right now is only for backed up PS1 games.
Forgot to mention that you need some way to get cogswap and ESR onto your memory card. You can do it with SwapMagic, Codebreaker, or something similar to those. I would recommend SwapMagic just because it is useful if the other ways don't work.

The MC Exploit will NOT work on the new PSTwo's. You have to use FREEMCBOOT.
The FREEMCBOOT works on all of them AFAIK. I have both a 35001 and a 79001 and it works on both of them. But the MC Exploit only works on the 35001.
That boot folder has the files you need in it. You don't put Freeboot on your MC, you run the elf and it formats and installs the program to your memory card.
1) this will erase your memory card, so back up any game saves that you have.
2) After freeMCboot is installed you need to put the boot.elf inside the boot directory of the memory card or it won't work.
After that you can put whatever elfs you want to run on the mc or you can use an HDD or usb stick to run elfs as well.
