Hey guys i have a bit of a problem. I got a ps2 HDD but it is only 12 gigs.... needless to say i need to update. I was wondering what all these different details on harddrives mean. Also, If anyone one knows a good Hard drive the works, is good, and isn't overpriced i would be greatful if they would share it.

This is the single best place to look to see what works and what doesn't.

1) RPM = Revolutions Per Minute. Obviously the higher the better/faster the drive.
2) Buffer really doesn't matter much on the PS2, but again, higher is better.
3) You can easily check the drives on newegg by copying the mf# in the search box of the link I gave you. I am not going to give you a whole list, but here is one drive that works well: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148100

This explains buffers a little more: http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/177/3

I don't know about the PS2's architecture, but in theory a faster RPM drive will perform faster. This could be limited by the architecture in the PS2 though. As an example you could put a 10,000RPM drive into a 4 year old computer, but there is no way it would keep up with the data being sent to it.

As a side note, ISO's have to be converted using the HDLoader software, you can't simply put them on there and then they play.
