I have a Matshita DVD-Ram UJ-852S ATA drive in my Toshiba Portege laptop. I cannot change the Region lock and would like to swap it for another slimlime Dual DVD writer that I can make Region Free easily.

Can anyone recommend a drive I should use? Thanks

Thanks. Tried AnyDVD and other similar software but nothing will over ride the Matshita Region lock.

How about flashing the firmware with the same as is already on there (if it is released.. it should be about). That should reset the 5 changes back to factory.

From my searches on web I can find nothing that will fix the firmware. Even if I did, I would only have 5 resets and have to fix it again. Too painful!

Its got to be a new DVD drive, but which one?

Thanks

Dear pj,

perhaps dvd43 a/k/a dvd for free, a prog that uses little resources and will allow a maxed out dvd drive to run in region zed mode.

As an alternative you may wish to learn how to flash your dvd rom chip with software available on a firmware link that imgburn will take you to.

One fix easy, the other fix- almost a spiritual experience.

Just tried dvd43. Does not work.

I have found no software to flash this drive, only other users with the same problem.

Do you have a link to software for this drive?

Thanks
