I've got Nero 6.6.0.14. OS is XP, SP2. My drive is a Lite-On LH-20A1S. I'm using Verbatim DVD+R 16x blanks (but recording them at 8x).
I use DriveImage to back up my hard drives (I back them up to a separate drive -- SATA if that makes any difference), and I'm trying to burn my DriveImage files onto DVDs. My image files are about 4 GB, so file size should not be a problem.
Nero tells me I have to use UDF format because of the large file size. I'm using UDF, not UDF/ISO, since I gather than I don't need the UDF/ISO format unless I'm going to read the files on an older operating system (I'm not).
When I burned the first disk, I got this message:
read errors from sector 70096 to 70111
data verification failed
I tried to use CD/DVD Speed to scan the disk, but it didn't want to run -- when I'd click on a tab, the hourglass would just spin and spin.
So I downloaded and installed the newest version of DiscSpeed (NeroDiscSpeed 4.11.2.0). That also ran very slowly, but did finally give me the message of "unsupported file format."
Does this mean I can't scan UDF files? The read errors message makes me think the DVD I burned is no good, but I'd like to have a way to scan the disk before I throw it away.
So what should I do next? Try a different burner? I also have an external Sony (DRX810UL) I could try. Or do I need to upgrade my Nero to a newer version?
Or should I just try burning another DVD and see if the verification works this time?
