I've included the content of the original 60+ day old thread below.

Annoyingly enough, this may be simple to fix.

The user manual for this amp can be found at safemanuals.com/user-guide-instructions-owner-manual/PANASONIC/SUX101-_E

As described in the manual, the EXT input/outputs need to be either connected to a graphic equaliser, or if you have no equaliser, they need to be shorted. There are "shorting pins" for this purpose, though you can just connect the input to the output for each channel (L/R) with an RCA lead.

Hope this helps.

Hello all,
I have just set up an amp with a tape deck, the problem is i have to use the rec out port on the back of the amp to be able to listen to anything. I tried connecting the tape deck aswell as my pc. The rec out port seems to be the only port to work, if I use the other ports for aux, tuner, and CD, there is very faint music if I turn the amp up to max. There doesn't appear to be a monitor button on the amp which would be an obvious answer, the model is technics SU-X101.
Thanks for any help, or just a read.

Ben.

you may have a bad amp the reason it only works thru the rec out is because you are using the pre amp section of the receiver you are not using the output of the amp
