bup file extensions, converting to mpeg--HELP!!

I have .bup files that I need converted to .mpeg files to upload to my ipod. I just recently purchased this ipod and am ignorant to how all of this works. Can someone please help me???

You cannot convert a .bup file. It is a backup of the IFO file. The files you want to convert are the .VOB files.
