Hi guys, I just purchased a new DS this past weekend and a friend of mine mentioned that I should have waited for the new one to come out later this year. Is this true? I haven't heard anything about a new DS. Does anyone have any links or information about this? Thanks for any feedback and help.

I don't have any proof that's really for or against a new DS coming out, but at www.gamefaqs.com, they have daily polls for fun. Today's was the following:

Do you think Nintendo has already re-designed the DS and is waiting to release it?
Yes, they're already stocking them up for Christmas
Probably, they'll sit on the idea until DS sales fall off
Maybe, it sounds like something they'd do
Probably not, why mess with a good thing?
No, Nintendo would never do something like that

So from that, it looks like it's more of a rumor than anything right now. However, at www.ign.com, they've posted an article in anticipation of the E3 convention for this year. Here's the address:
http://ds.ign.com/articles/886/886182p2.html
About halfway down the page, it talks about a possible new announcement for a nintendo handheld system. This is speculation based on the fact that the nintendo DS has been out for awhile now. However, they've also said that the DS is still selling strong, so it's not likely that Nintendo would announce that they're making a new system. An announcement like that would most likely stunt their current DS sales.

In any case, it looks like rumors/speculation right now. Maybe there will be a clear announcement at the E3 convention (I think it's soon, but I'm not sure when it is). Hope this helped.

I have heard this as well and nintendo keeps saying it isn't true but if nintendo doesn't do something fast there sales for the ds will vanish without a trace because there are more people pirating ds titles then buying them.

Indeed this would suck...cause I just got my Guitar Hero Limited Edition DS two weeks ago...oh well...if nintendo decides to pull a brand new spanking DS out of their butt...then I'll sell my mint condition ds and save up to buy it.
