Well I was looking at the two LCD Sony Bravia's, the Z series at 120Hz and 40'' and the V series at 60Hz and 46''.

Then I came across a Plasma Samsung at 480Hz (huh?) and 50 inches.

I can't really decide which one is the better buy? Can a TV even do 480Hz refresh or what the hell is the deal? Is it like claiming a million to one DYNAMIC contrast ratio?

I'm just completely lost anymore.

They like to boast those numbers. Plasma is the best for color reproduction - hence the contrast ratio they said. I don't think an actual user would be able to even see that fast of a frame rate - 480Hz. If I were you, I'd buy a Samsung LED DLP, or wait for the new line of LaserVue's by Mitsubishi. At CES this year, LaserVue beat Pioneers top end Kuro hands down on color reproduction of everything else.

Most plasmas are 720p. If you want a full 1080P plasma, it's going to cost you. There are too many cons for me to buy a plasma or to advise someone to buy one. They EAT up energy and they still have problems with burn in - people say they don't, but I've done my research. Life of plasmas isn't that long either. IMO, don't go for a plasma unless money is not a factor to you.
