I just purchased a 47" LG LCD TV floor sample with a 5" line scratch in the screen. The price was reduced by 75% of the orginal, this was the only way I could afford it. The scratch is bright visible when there is a dark scene. Can anything be done to reduce the scratch? Are problems like this in LCDs okay?

Thank you

Alex

IT's hard to say without seeing how deep the scratch is, You could get some plastic polish, a soft terry towel and very gently work the polish over the scratch. Can't promise it will work, but it may reduce the scratch.
Please keep in mind though the plastic polish might cause clouding around the scratch.
Good Luck

The scratch does not seem to be deep, may be about 1 millimeter. However it is always white along the scartch line , does that mean the pixels are dead? If that's the case, do dead pixels spread with time? I ma not familiar with lcd screens, this is my first.

Well if the pixels are dead, theres nothing you can do about it, Try some polish and see what happens.

Tried the polish, it helped reduce the scratch a little but in the process removed the antiglare coating along the line. I should have minimize the application area, learned the hard way. I read about an antiglare coating spray for TVs, did anybody tried that?
