Is it possible to plau blue ray from your hard drive?

Is it possible to either play or convert a blue ray movie to play from your hard drive? Sort of like a divx .avi file? My video card supports blue ray playback, but what video format are the discs in? Is it an mpeg file or something?

MPEG-2, H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, and VC-1
and yes you can you have to rip it first though and have a blue ray drive
so have fun
