Ok let me get to my problem I am downloading a torrent via the Demonoid tracker. I am using port 3390, and yes, it is forwarded (I went to my router page and typed in the information).
---
Seeds: 14
Leechers: 55
uTorrent Version: 1.8
-I am not running that IPv6/Teredo that was added in this version. Should I be using it?
I am getting like 77kb/s
With a 10mbit line. I usually get around 300kb/s
Why so slow, anyone know?
My ISP is AT&T.
I am using PeerGuardian 2 blocking Government and P2P IP addresses.
Not knocking Demonoid but speeds there lately have been terrible. Currently leeching a file while connected to 70 seeds and 90 peers and seeing speeds (80 - 90 KB) of less than a third of normal. That said, are those total seeds and peers or your connections? Are you using Protocol Encryption: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/395674 is the port check green or do you need a static ip address with your router, you can check at start>run, type in cmd, select ok, type in ipconfig/all, select enter and you'll see it, if it's different than the one you used, you'll need to set it static. Do the peers you're connected to have less than you, is DHT off?
Thank you very much Mistycat (someone in my guild on WoW had that name)
Anyways, back to the problem at hand.
Total seeds: 78
Total Leechers: 239
My protocol is always set at forced, which is what it should be set at, I do believe.
When you say "Port check", I believe you mean when you check to see if a port is open, and if it is a green check comes up. If that's what you mean, then yes, it is green.
I don't know what you mean by "The peers you're connected to have less than you".
You'll find DHT at options>preferences>bittorrent. Both check boxes need to be disabled on private trackers, ok on public. Enabled should be ok for Protocol Encryption. By highlighting the file and opening peers at the bottom, you can see each peers percentage, if you have the same or more info than them, they may not be uploading to you. And with more peers than seeds, speeds may not be that great. And, is utorrent a beta version, if it is, maybe one that isn't? I'm kind of curious myself, even if each seed and peer gave me 1 KB, my speed would double.
The torrent finally got done, and I think it was just lack of seeds. I tried another torrent with decent seeds, and not too many peers, and I got a little over 300kb/s
So it's all good.
Thanks for your help. Ill make sure that DHT is unchecked, and I'll also make sure to put Protocol Encryption to Enabled.
Sorry to bring this up, but I just saw something. I'm downloading something else, and it has 3 seeds and 7 leechers. I'm getting average 270 kb/s. Now, why is it with less seeds im getting faster speeds?
Wow, how crazy.
Probably because those 3 seeds have their upload set high, peers are uploading more to you, etc. You have no way of knowing what others set their upload to.
