ok so this is what i do
- i drag and drop my vid into virtualdub
- add "resize" filter to 320/240 with ratio disabled
- set FIlter Mode to "Lanczos3"
- set audio to "Full Precessing mode"
- set conversion to 44100Hz, 8 bit, Mono, check "High Quality" box
- Set Audio compression to "mp3" and select "64kBits/s, 44100Hz,Mono-KBs"
- set Video compression to "DivX 6.7 Codec (1 Logical CPU) at 384 bitrate"////i've also tried ffdshow H.264-this codec is the one i REALLY want to use....the H.264
- i select a small portion of the video...like 2mins then i select "Save as AVI"
THEN IT GIVES ME THIS SH*T!

"Crash Details(best guess at the cause)
An out-of-bounds memory access (access violation) occurred in module 'ntdll'...
...reading address 6A238865."

the error always seems to be DIFFERENT but the words "out-of-bounds memory access" are always there

I have to say it HAS WORKED BEFORE just YESTERDAY it was working FINE however the hell i wanted.
can some pleez help me...i posted this in virtualdub forums but no answer

the same SETTINGS worked fine yesterday

here's another one

An out-of-bounds memory access (access violation) occurred in module 'VirtualDub'...
...reading address 8C1721CC...
...while running thread "Processing" (thread.cpp:152).

Have you also encoded with AutoGK (using DivX)? If you have, then go to the DivX codec's configuration panel and press the "Advanced" button and there you find a "ManualCLI". Remove the value after the -dir switch, if there's a path to an AutoGK temp directory, and then press apply. Hope this will help you or anybody else struggling.

I've had these problems with DivX/AutoGK/VirtualDub use too. I just mailed to the DivX support and I'm waiting to hear if they would do something to smooth things out with that particular problem. VirtualDub's forums didn't see the problem as theirs and neither did Doom9's AutoGK forum, so it's all up to DivX at this point..
