I have 2 external hard drives (Simple TEch Samsung 160GB, Acom 40GB) attached, using USB ports.
The Acom works beautifully, never have had a problem. When I try and copy video/movie clips FROM the Samsung, however, back TO the c:/My Documents/My Videos/Media Literacy file folder, I get a WINDOWS - DELAYED WRITE FAILURE notice. Some of the "shorter" video clips transfer back to the C:/ with no problem. The larger ones (over 1.3GB) however, cause the Windows Delayed Write Failure notice to pop up again. I am assuming that there must be some "setting" in caching, or something that I must change/edit/rectify. Therefore, I have to safely remove hardware, reboot and try again.
I have checked/compared the Properties between the two external hard drives, and there are no differences in "settings," other than the size capacity, obviously.
What do I need to do so that I do NOT see these delayed write failure notices anymore? I have searched and searched, tried a few things, but nothing has worked.
This is the ONLY INTERNET FORUM that I have ever used because the suggestions, recommendations have ALWAYS worked for me. No matter which forum I post help requests, AFTERDAWN has always been the most successful!! I'm hopeful once again!
Yes.
The previous post by me I thought worked, until I started moving larger files... I am still getting the delayed write failure notice if I try and move files larger than about 2.GB
I'll be honest with you here, the only times I have ever had 'delayed write failure' are when a fault has occurred. One instance (much like this one, larger files caused it more than smaller ones) was a faulty HDD, the other was a loose cable. Your software fix for the problem earlier was news to me anyway...
