external sony burner..Please help??

hi,iv just today recieved my new burner,a sony dw-u10a dual format burner.
after going through the simple task of installing it i tried to copy a dvd.ive gone through the DVD-shrink process and have it on my hard drive.
im using `DVD-x copy xpress` to copy.
followd the step guide e.g `insert disk to read`.it read the disk but when it came to copying it,it never copied the main movie just some very small data at the beggining.What could be the problem???.im using `dvd-r` disks for copying,is this correct???
