Can I Blu Ray with my system?

Hi, I am wanting to know if my system will support a blu-ray drive and if the investment is even worth it. I have a Sony 1080i 62 inch TV that I am trying to output the video to. My laptop has a dvi output that will connect directly to my TV but it has no audio output that I am aware of. I do have a 1394 port near my headphone jack although I don't know what it is for.

I downloaded a legal sample clip of Terminator 3 in HD format and it seems to work well on my computer but doesnt show up on my TV I am using Nero to play the video and I have my resolution set on 1920 x 1200 can my computer even output an HD signal? AS you can see I have a lot of questions and I appreciate everyones help. I have been a member here for several years and I always seem to find what I need in your forums. Thank you in advance.
