Hello, I'm currently experiencing a problem with Verbatim disks, and I can't find a solution for it.

So, I went to pick up my PS2 after recieving a calibration because the laser wasn't working properly, on the way back home, I bought 5 Verbatim DVD-R disks, I got home, and burned a Verbatim disk, but when I try booting it with Swap Magic it doesn't work, I get the typical "Not a valid PS2 disk"...
I even tried on 2 different computers, one is a laptop and the other is a desktop.
Their drives are the following --
Laptop -> [0:0:0] TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-L632H (E:)
Desktop ->[1:0:0] HL-DT-ST DVDRRW GWA-4164B (E:)

I eventually wasted 5 different Verbatim disks, all in different speeds, and they won't work and now I'm stuck only with Phillips...

On a side note- Is Philips bad for Backupgames? I've been using them for a long time but I heard they wear out the laser much more than Verbatim disks do, so I'm afraid of booting up a Philips disk now to play a game because I don't want to send my PS2 for repair so soon.
