I'm having a problem and before I send it into HP, as I still have a warranty, I have a couple of questions. First off, the problem is it won't power up. I plug the power cord in, and the light around to port it plugs into lights up to show it's receiving power. But when I press the power button, nothing happens whatsoever. Now, if I go and pop the battery out, then pop it back in, it will start to power up it seems. All the lights just above the keys (Quickplay, media controls, etc) light up for a couple seconds like it normally does when it boots up, but then they just shut off and nothing happens again. This can be repeated every time I pop the battery out then back in. If I'm right, the laptop should function even with the battery removed. And the power cable seems to be operating correctly, as the power indicator light on the laptop lights up when it's plugged in. What couple possibly be the problem?

Also, I was wondering about if I do send it in to HP for repairs, are they legally allowed to access your harddrives and look for stuff on it? I have some personal stuff on there that I wouldn't want anyone getting their hands on, so I was wondering how I can go about making sure this doesn't happen, if possible. Thanks for any advice and help!
