I am unable to open a file created with Microsoft Works Suite 2001 [Publishing]. When attempting to do so, I get the message telling me I have 2 corrupted registry files. [If the computer is so smart to decipher this problem, why can't the computer identify said files?!!]

As a solution, I thought to restore the system to an earlier date. However, when I attempted to do so, I discovered I could not change the month from the present [July]. I could change the July dates, but I think it prudent to go back to some date in May or even April.

My present operating system is XP.

As always, any guidance/help is truly appreciated. Ciao. Beppo

The reason you can not go back any further than the current month probably has to do with the amount of memory that is set to be alocatted to system recovery, which can be user defined.
