Ok I found a place that actually carryies them (The Verbatum disks)in the stores, as opposed to having to order them online.
The ones they have are the DVD+R and they are double-sided.
And here is the newbie question: What does double sided mean? You can burn one movie on one side and another on the other side? If that's the case, that would be cook for a movie with a sequel. Like SAW 1 and 2 on one disk and 3 and 4 on the other.
I can't remember the other type you guys were talking about, but I found these. They are a little pricey, but if the quality is as good as everyone here says it is, I don't mind paying more for them.
I also found a Dynex brand (in fact I got some not knowing it because they came in what I thought were empty cases. I bought 2 packs thinking they were empty only to find one set has dvd minus r's in them and the other had the dvd+r's.
Are the Dynex any good too? The only Verbatum I saw that had cases were the slin line cases that I am not crazy about. I will use them, but I would rather not.
I am NOT seeing any empty cases listed on any of the site (Best Buy, Wal-Mart or Circuit city. <bummer> I HATE waiting for stuff in the mail, like the stuff I buy on eBay. hehehe
The double sided are as you surmised - it's like two regular blank DVD's - one per side.
The other type is Double Layer - twice the capacity of a regular blank DVD - but single sided.
They're also called flipper or flipped discs. Play one side, flip er over to play the other. Be gentle with them.
You've got both dynex plus and dash discs: Not exactly high quality stuff,so keep the burn slower at around 4x. Main issue you may encounter is compatability of all your dvd drives, especially your stand alone players. Test burn one of each format, and test them in all your drives and hope you don't get some sort of No Disc error-Dirty disc, illegal disc,Wrong region,Wrong Format. Then you have a compatability issue.
Cases: What type of cases?
Try meritline.com or supermediastore.com and look for the cheapest price, including the shipping. I used to get mine at Office Max when they'd have a buy 1 get 1 free sale on the slim jewel cases. Odd Lots/Big Lots stores another good source for cases.
Dumpster diving at Block Buster video stores can also yield free full size vinyl dvd cases,in case you have any of their rental stores nearby.
