There has to be an easy way to do this I'm tired of having to shut down every process that and service and anything in my task bar to get the most out of my gaming experience. (MS VISTA)
I mean if you think about it our computers have way more crap in them then any console out there minus IMO the PS3 (which has a super computer processor in it). So why is it that a console can play Mass Effect at 1080p (1920×1080) with no real hicups or problems and I have to sit here on my AMD dual core processor with 4 gigs of ram and a HD4850 card (which doesn't really matter what it is it far beats what is in the xbox 360) and it still can't run as high of frames as the xbox even when I limit the resolution to 800x600.
So here is what I'm looking for a program that you can tell it which game you want to play and when you click run. It reboots your system on boot it doesn't load everything just the bare esentials that the game needs to run and then on exit of the game reboots back into windows.
Now if I'm halusinating and this is too big of a deal or there is something out there already like what I'm talking about just let me know, but this ends my rant.
console games are designed to run at 30/60fps, since the hardware never changes, unlike computer gaming, where hardware does matter.
if you have too much stuff running, then you might as well kill the startup processes. run msconfig, and go to the startup tab. untick all the things you shutdown in task manager.
also, you're probably maxing out all the settings. if you're running max AA, don't. use 2x or 4x. and don't enable vertical sync.
So I guess I have to figure out how to build this myself, thanks cee.
I just think thats too easy of an answer, directx and the drivers that are already installed for your specific hardware are already present on your hard drive. Now I could see if I was trying to run a game off a disc like a console does but thats not at all what I'm saying.
If the program only allowed your windows to run enough to get your drivers, directx and boot the game at the same time. I think it would almost double your performance with any game.
You would not have the entire bloated thing that is Vista/XP slamming your gaming experience.
And no I have turned everything under the cards settings to use applications settings and turned everything off in the game and put the resolution at what I stated above.
I don't want to turn off all my start up applications and use msconfig to adjust my start up. I want my experience in windows to be what it is now, I like it for what I do.
As far as gaming there are times that I can deal with stupid things like the hard drive adjusting its page file or getting an email in the background or watching a movie on my oposite screen. But there are times that I just want to give no excuse about my gaming capabilities.
And to snub any buddy from saying "Well that what a console is for", but I'm not about to purchase a game that is already out on PC or coming out on PC that is on one of those consoles especially like xbox. My PC has the capability to look better then either of those consoles and should. And that is just me being truthful, I could have said I don't own either and there is no reason I want to go out and buy one just to play games that I can play on my pc.
