I was thinking of buying a macbook pro midaugust but I'm not sure if it's safe because of all the issues they have with the lcd and a lot of other things. If I get a faulty one, even for the smallest thing like the headphones making static noise (since I'm going to be using it a lot for watching movies), can i exchange free of charge? I do realize that most issues have been fixed but not all.

One more thing, is it ok to buy one now or since they haven't updated it recently will they probably do so in the next few months?

All of the issues have been 'fixed'

The macbook pro has been around for about 2 years now and all the hardware issues have been resolved. The main reason for the issues at first was because of the transition from power pc to intel!

If you do happen to experience an issue apple will replace it for you free of charge within the first 60 days. After the first 60 days they would repair it.

I have been using my MacBook Pro for about 8 month now. I use it to run a live video stream, and max out the processor daily! Haven't experienced the slightest issue! I would however recommend purchasing Applecare, because you are bound to experience a problem with any computer within the first 3 years!

About the when to purchase question-

I always tell people if you need it NOW. Buy it now!
If you can wait WAIT!

I am guessing though that the next major hardware upgrade will be in January for macworld!

I could be wrong though!

Hope that helps!

I thought that some display problems were still out there, no?

Well then I think I'll buy it because I need it and the macbook pro seems the most practical

Nope... Those have been resolved. You are still hearing of them for the people who have the older machines.

yep you are hearing the screen issue from people that have beaten the living daylights out of there machines and expect apple to fix them for nothing this is why when you purchase any macbook spend the additional 100.00 for the service plan and also get yourself .mac or mobile me or what ever it is called now.

Ok thanks that's a relief because I will be using this macbook pro for video and image editing, so it needs to look its best.
btw I bought applecare on the last mac (a powerbook at the time) and i certainly will this time too, because it could always come in handy... Although it is expensive for laptops $350...

They might be refreshing the Macbook Pro, so see if you can wait another month.
