Hey guys ive been searching around but i can't find a program that fits what i want. I like to make my own ring tones and stuff like that and i need an audio editor that allows me to pick exactly where what i want it to start and end by actually setting the time parameters. By this i meen say a song starts the main chorus at 26 seconds and ends at 45.67, i want to be able to type in those times to get exactly what i want. I know programs like this exist and they are free, i just cant seem to find the one i used about a year ago. Please if any one knows of some simple program like this please respond.

i've tried it and have yet to find the function i am looking for. I've tried many things with the program but i cant get the specificity i am looking for. I need to be able to select from start time to end time. not dragging a cursor that snaps to positions i don't want it.

I thought you could zoom out a bit on the display
to give you some more granularity. Use the mouse to set the
start point, hold down the shift key, and use the mouse to set
the end point. Copy/save to a new file.

What did you use last year?

if i knew what program i used before i wouldn't be starting this thread. I like the zoom method but it gets to the point where i cant get the whole selection i want or i loose my point when i start scrolling. Is there like a good list of alternatives to audacity.

Thanks for that i found wave pad. It has exactly what i want. I can go to edit and select the exact time i want to cut out.
