Hey everyone,

I have CF 4.01 M33-2, I can play Rayman & Doom from the PSX just fine with no issues, but FFVII goes black when I try to start a new game (the PSP slim does not freeze though).

I have seen these issues in other topics but my concern is if I download a popsloader program for an older version will I mess up my PSP?

I only see popsloader downloads for 3.90 and below.

I would love to play this game, but am I out of luck?

You don't need to download popsloader. The 4.01 M33-2 has a built in popsloader. I think you might have downloaded a dead link. Try it again from another site.

So if in theory I already have the program, how do I make it work, do I need to start my PSP in recovery mode and do something in there?

i think you've got a bad copy of the game... maybe you have to try another eboot of FFVII so that you will diagnose where's the problem is coming from... maybe the best way is try to rip your own eboot from the cd so that you'll know that is a clean copy... gudluck

You can try this. Press Select at Main Menu. Change your UMD mode to NP9660. See if it works. If not, go look for another site to download the game.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, I will try another version of FFVII at a later date, for now I have Dragon Warrior VII to keep me busy for a month on my PSP!!! I always preferred DQ to FF anyways :)

Crisis Core was awesome, I bought it on UMD the day it came out. The cut scenes are simply incredible and the fact that you can have like 99 saves, I have saves before all the major cutscenes for easy access. It was a great game but I have to say DQ VIII for the PS2 was a better game, but they both get over 9/10 rating in my book. Crisis Core's main story was too short and too much emphasis on repetitive side missions hurt the game if only a little.
