Ok, I am a newbie at this, but I have spent the last two days reading this forum and dvdrhelp. I almost have the solution, but yet, for the past 8 hours or so, it has been avoiding me.
Goal:
Combine different VOBs from different DVDs with different resolution without loosing quality. I can put as many or as few VOBs on a DVD+R to make sure I do not have to use "compression" of any sort.
- Need ability to delete ends of chapters a bit. Editing..very light.
Need ability to add a good Menu..meaning better than simple??? At this point, though, I can deal with Simple Menu too.
Software I have and/or used:
DVD DeCrypter - mainly use
Sonic MyDVD - used, but failed and crashes
DVD Lab - Download 8 hours ago..this is what is driving me nuts
DVD Shrink - Used, but need Menu
VOBedit - not used.
IFOedit - not used.
Pinacle Instant Copy - Moded version - Used to Burn
PowerDVD & Regular DVD - used to verify.
What I have done so far:
Used De-Crypter to get the particular chapters that I need from different DVDs. Used IFO Mode and selected only the Cells I needed. Put these in different folders for each movie.
When I play these VOB files in DiVX player, they play perfect. Quality is superb.
I used MyDVD to create this whole fancy menu and all, and then, it crashed. It can;t seem to deal with different resolution.
So read here, and said to use DVD Lab. Did that..learnt the thing..did all the menu again and went to compile. It compiled, but the Menu doesn't seem to stick..it is there for a flash of a second and then starts with the movie. I checked the menu timeout feature and it is set to "inf". I even changed this to 60 seconds..no luck. The root menu/second menu..none of them work.
Another problem I saw once this compiled was that when I played it on my PowerDVD, it showed two chapters playing on top of one another..kinda like split screen.
I loaded the compiled version in DVD Shrink to see and it looked ok there. I rebooted..did this again and again I see split screen on some chapters. So, I did DVD Shrink again and it looked ok again. So I "Reauthored" the "Compiled" version with DVD Shrink. No Compression chosen. It did it. PowerDVD played fine.
Then I went and opened up Pinacle IC and chose the Shrink version and burned it. Everything looked ok, until I come home and see that the DVD is full of artefacts even though I was using original VOBs which were never compressed anywhere. (not to my knowledge)
So, short of the long story is, how do I do this? How can I compile different chapters from different movies with different resolutions onto same DVD+R without loosing any quality in picture or sound and with a Menu feature??????????
I have read this entire forum all night long and now am tired...need help please. I know this is possible, but what is the secret????
Oh, I used DVD Lab only cause DVD Shrink won't recognize my VOB files since they don't have a Video_TS file!!! Argggghhhh! Anyway to recreate those from my VOB files???? Well no menu feature either.
Thanx thanx for help here.
EDIT: I am using TDK DVD+R 4X. Also, among other software, I also used TMPEng. This doesn't take VOB files. I want to keep VOB cause to preserve the quality. :)
