KRZR K1 Ringtones Distorted/Silent

My ringtones will either be distorted or silent and not work at all. The same goes with alarms or playing sounds through the media player. I can sometimes get the sounds to work right if I flip open and close the phone and move the top part of the phone with a little bit of force side to side, or sometimes squeezing the phone closed harder, but moving the phone parts around with a little force seems to help get the sound to come back correctly. However, speakerphone works perfectly fine. Anyone know what the problem is?
